So, time for another rapid fire shot. I realize… twitter is basically this: a micro blog with a few thoughts here and there. However the twitterverse seems like this overcrowded dollar store. Even though I do use it @threeup I’m not much of a fan. And as you will soon find out, I am feeling verbose about these somewhat boring topics; well beyond 140 characters. (But twitter’s appeal is in brevity which is often best)

Middle man!

If you rate a shows interest by its requirement of interest. Then Middleman I think would be perhaps the most interesting show ever. If you try to have a second conversation you will be hitting rewind over and over again. There are so many quick dry jokes and weird references. One guy pretty much speaks in song lyrics.

Anyway, it isn’t quite stellar or huge laugh out loud like the office, but its interesting and a good watch. I especially like the cool alien-killers plotline. Its sort of like men-in-black except more casual?

Plus it just started, and comedies don’t always start with a bang.

DrHorrible!

Ya, I’m not the first on this bandwagon, but I more so just love this quote from Act 2

Her > Sometimes people are layered
Her > there’s something totally different underneath whats on the surface
DrHorrible > And sometimes there is a third even deeper layer and that one is the the same as the first
..
DrHorrible > like with pie.

It is all kinds of awesome! Except for the female lead, who i guess sings well, but charms poorly. Maybe this fits because he isn’t exactly functional enough to pine after a mary jane or lana lane.

DrHorrible > Peace… but not literally

It suren’t just television.

I never know how much amusement I get out of television until its gone. The Office came back last week after a long haitus, the dinner party was the most painful thing I’ve ever seen, This weeks had more classic comedy moments including a beautiful Andy dance. I wish I had my own Andy Bernard.

This is an old clip, but it shows Andy being Andy. I love michael’s sounds at the end.

Andy: I lost a penny out of my loafers.

Michael: Well can, but won’t. Should– maybe, but I suren’t. What part of suren’t can’t you understand.

Creed: When pam gets Michaels old chair, I’ll get Pam’s old chair. Then i’ll have two chairs. (deviously) Only one to go.

Michael: Could we share a rowboat, would a rowboat support her? Would an average sized rowboat support her without capsizing?
Phyllis : No, alright no, she can’t fit in a boat.

Andy: I’m always thinking one step ahead, like a .. carpenter. Who makes stairs.

SNL is back

so SNL came back, i really enjoy this cast but they aren’t quite super star classic. If you don’t pay attention and stick through some simple flat jokes then you might think it’s just as bad as it has been.

This ep had Tina Fey! very good, Carrie Underwood who I enjoyed her rock song and Mike Huckabee and Steve Martin had cameos. Huckabee had a nice joke about staying past his welcome which is cause he’s still in the nomination race when he has no chance. Tina Fey has great impersonations (mouse voice, Juno) and Armisen does a great Obama. Oh and I love slaps! and the comedy rule of 3

“Bush visited Liberia and got the nation’s highest honor. A meal.”

“A kitten which ran out of its carrier case on a new york subway was found today, it apparently survived for 20 days by hooking up with a hip-hop dance crew”

“We have our first real female presidential candidate in Hilary Clinton
Yet women don’t feel obligated to vote for Hilary just because she’s a woman
Women are perfectly free to make whatever choice Oprah tells them to”

“(wedding speech) There’s a sad statistic goin around sayin that 50% of marriages end in divorce — well the other 50% — end in death…. I hope you two die. Good luck goofballs”

“(sex in city ripoff) This is some ad agency you’ve started Missus Saint George”
“sorry, its pronounced ’sta ghorgh’”
“I don’t think you can handle me, cause i’m a btch in the board room, a bore in the bedroom and a bear on the toilet”

Ok, I updated my TV Master List. And yes, that is no typo, I have been watching gossip girl for my teen drama fix. Its sorta funny, not quite Cohen to Cohen funny (The OC) but it works. Plus I don’t hate the main female (Serena) unlike the other show (Marissa)

Oh, I watched an episode of Smallville for the first time in a while. Clark and Lana are happy! yay. Lana is evil? not so yay. Christina Milian was on the episode and I think she deserves more screen time in general. And in the episode she gave Clark a gift at the very end. He doesn’t really open it but you see its a … dun dun dun… brilliant red CAPE! Oooh I loved that moment even if the episode was sorta forgettable. Someone asked me what my nickname was and I said ‘the cape’ even though its totally not my nickname. I think it could be though. I do have a save-the-world rescue-the-damsel complex at times. Anyway, i’m a big fan of capes. I think my cape line should be on my epitaph, how morbid and egotistical would that be?

I should wear a cape all the time because I am that awesome.

But back to television… I have watched heroes a bit. Seems ok, sorta interesting but nothing groundbreaking. I also have watched Big Bang Theory and it is getting better. Chuck seems to be getting worse. I wouldnt really recommend either at this point unless you like nerds and have some free time.

Music i like on a show i don’t

I was watching the hills while making dinner. (I swear i don’t watch the show)
and they had lame cat fights and were discussing betrayal. They played marie digby’s original song stupid for you! And then they played muse – supermassive blackhole. Wow I was surprised. But not enough to keep watching.

The tv show ‘the hills’ is pretty much the definition of drivel. But you probably know that, and love or hate it anyway. Supermassive black hole! Hah, i guess it fits :P

But seriously, watching trendy shows is a really smart way to find good music these days. So much better than the radio. (Sheridan is a proud owner of 5 of the 6 “The OC” Soundtrack CDs)

Office is starting sooooooon!! First few shows are an hour long! So excited.

Prison Break already started. Not sure if I’ll like him breaking out of a .. Panamanian prison this time.

Beauty and the Geek 4 started. I watched the first episode with the auditions. I don’t believe I am going to watch any other episodes. There are some likable people on there though, you might like it, if you like that sort of thing.

But new shows ! I generally watch all of the first episodes and then make my picks. Generally I only watch 4 or 5 shows a year. So #1 Office #2 Prison Break (maybe?) #3 Lost #4 … we’ll see

Here is someone else’s more thorough and professional fall preview

And here’s mine! (more…)

From How I Met Your Mother

“When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead.  True Story.” – Barney

So the second season started today.  The show is alright.  I don’t know if I recommend it as far as the content.  A lot of romance stuff.  It seems… realistic?  I don’t know I’m not down with all that.  It seems well written, it sorta reminds me of Friends.  Anyway, ya, Barney is quite hilarious, maybe more than Chandler.

Have you seen this Scofield character?

He’s the starring character in one of my favorite shows, Prison Break (A-) which is starting again tonight!
